Newcastle Airport launch new fundraising initiative

This month Newcastle Airport launched its new fundraising initiative – Donate an Hour – in support of its charity of choice, the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation (HBCF).

The premise of Donate an Hour is just as the name suggests, you donate an hour of your pay in support of the HBCF.

Following the success of other annual corporate charity events, Newcastle Airport was looking for new ways to engage local business and the community in supporting the HBCF. That’s when the idea of Donate an Hour was conceived.

“We’ve been a Pink Partner of the Foundation for five years,” Newcastle Airport CEO, Paul Hughes said.

“What first attracted us to the Foundation was that it was managed by a volunteer board and 100% of our donation supported local families dealing with breast cancer today.”

“Since we selected the Foundation as our chosen charity, our Airport family has unfortunately been touched a number of times by this disease. This has only reinforced to us the need to support our local community at this grassroots level.”

The Airport worked with the HBCF to develop the idea and since then has launched the Donate an Hour website.

The Airport has funded the website development and start-up costs to ensure that every cent donated goes directly to the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation to help them deliver their grassroots support.

Anyone can ‘Donate an Hour’ and donations are accepted from both individuals and companies.

The Airport will also be hosting an un-business breakfast to officially launch Donate an Hour. Everyone is invited to attend this side-show-alley inspired morning of games, prizes and laughter. Tickets are $39 each and are available online.

The HBCF and Airport have set a lofty target of raising $25,000 through the website.
