New co-working space for professional parents opening soon

A revolutionary co-working space will open in Newcastle to give professional mums and dads a quiet workspace for when the home office doesn’t cut it.

While not new to Australia, Founder of Playdesk, Donna Brown is bringing the concept of a corporate, co-working space combined with a crèche for the kids in one convenient location to Newcastle for the first time.

“Playdesk is designed to meet the needs of the rising presence of the mumpreneur,” Donna said.

“Mums and dads in Newcastle are looking to stay at home with their kids more and, at the same time, build successful businesses to provide a solid future for them and their families.”

Located in Gateshead and offering 35 desk spots, a meeting room, crèche with qualified and experienced staff and all the technological requirements for professionals, Playdesk will offer a creative and quiet space for thinking and focusing for members.

“After having my first child, I started a bookkeeping businesses and I soon found out I wasn’t a night owl. I struggled to get anything done throughout the day with my bub around and housework to do,” Donna said.

“As well, with the cost of living as high as it is, we are forced to keep the money coming into our households. I think mums are realising more and more that there is a solution to this problem; work from home, save on childcare costs and spend more time with the family.

“The need for a casual care option with a quality workspace for mums and dads is rising. Playdesk is designed to address that need.”

Mumpreneur, Founder of The Natural Wellbeing Company and creator of The Hunter Region Mumpreneurs Facebook Group (Newcastle, Lake Mac, Hunter Valley), Amy Beaman is looking forward to the launch of Playdesk.

“Playdesk is a brilliant concept for those mums trying to build a business from home but also juggling kids and household chores. A space away from home, where the kids are safe, being watched and have others to play with will mean mum’s working on their business can have time to be productive,” Amy said.

Playdesk will launch in March and will also provide workshops and events throughout the year.
