Moray & Agnew closes out the year celebrating senior promotions

Megan Palmer has been promoted to Partner in Moray & Agnew’s litigation and dispute resolution group and Madeleine Graham has been promoted to Senior Associate in the Newcastle CTP insurance team.

Conducting complex commercial litigation in all Australian courts as well as dispute resolution through expert determination, mediation and arbitration, Megan focuses on commercial disputes including those relating to contracts, building and construction, and property.

Megan’s wide ranging experience includes building and construction litigation, property related litigation, injunctive relief, administrative law, consumer law, contractual disputes, and commercial debt recoveries.

Newcastle Managing Partner, Sean O’Sullivan said he was thrilled to have Megan join their team and close out 2021 on a high note.

“We’re delighted that Megan is joining our partnership and celebrating her well-earned promotion is a fantastic way to close out 2021,” Sean said.

“Since joining us ten years ago, Megan has consistently demonstrated that she’s a highly skilled and dedicated commercial disputes lawyer.

“She has successfully resolved numerous major disputes through negotiation and mediation processes, avoiding protracted and costly litigation for our clients. Like all our people, Megan really goes above and beyond for her clients, bringing a pragmatic approach to litigation and a strong ‘client-first’ ethos.

“We’re also pleased that Madeleine has been promoted to Senior Associate. She is highly respected by her clients and colleagues, and a talented insurance lawyer whose ability to think outside the box and to formulate logical and persuasive arguments has led to excellent results for her clients.

“Merit-based promotions such as Megan and Madeleine’s reflect our firm’s strategic focus on organic growth, supported by appropriate lateral hire and acquisition.”

“I’m thrilled to continue working with my fantastic clients and colleagues, while having the opportunity to contribute to the leadership of our Newcastle office. We’re going from strength to strength and I’m incredibly proud to be a part of that,” Megan said.

“I love being part of the Moray’s team. Since joining the firm five years ago, I’ve been able to work on a wide range of interesting matters for our major clients. I’m looking forward to a great year ahead!,” Madeleine said.

Megan’s promotion to Partner means that almost 60 per cent of the 19-person strong Newcastle partnership is female.

Megan and Madeleine’s achievements are two of 16 senior promotions announced with effect from 1 January 2022 in Moray & Agnew’s offices around the country, including six new partners.

It’s reflective of the firm’s commitment to the advancement of women in the legal industry that 100 per cent of its senior promotions in Newcastle over the last five years are female.

Sean O’Sullivan has previously been awarded individual Hunter Diversity Champion at the Hunter Diversity Awards, an initiative of the Equal Futures Project.

Over 130 people work in Moray & Agnew’s Newcastle office, providing private and public sector clients of all sizes with commercial, employment, insurance, and disputes advice.
