Local collaboration wins global award

A locally-based collaboration has seen international success with the My Big Tomorrow website winning a silver award at the global 2015 User Experience Awards.

Developed by The Village of Useful and Newism for the University of Newcastle the website is a resource designed to help young Australians discover their dream career. It is also a tool for educators and parents who can find information and resources to help guide younger people.

The User Experience Awards event was held in New York City on 16 November 2015 and is “dedicated exclusively to showcasing the best in UX”. The Awards recognise the best in user experience design worldwide. There were ten global User Experience Award winners in 2015, including My Big Tomorrow.

Andy Howard of The Village of Useful said it was a privilege to be recognised amongst an impressive lineup of projects and companies.

“Other 2015 winners include Google (bronze) and a favourite of ours, Hackaball (gold). Hackaball was created by London-based agency Made by Many to teach children the principles of computer programming through play,” Andy said.

“We’re proud to bring such an amazing mission to life and to receive global recognition for our work and results. Early metrics show how much My Big Tomorrow is already helping to move the needle.”

“My Big Tomorrow is a special project for us, it’s been hugely satisfying to work on and we’re excited to have this work recognised globally as one of the world’s best user experience designs.”

“Thank you to the project team and everyone who helped us create My Big Tomorrow ‚Äì everything from the initial research, strategy and concept to the launch event one year later.”

Newism General Manager, Wayde Christie, said the website is another great collaboration between The Village of Useful and Newism.

“My Big Tomorrow has been a career-defining experience for the team at Newism,” Wayde said. “A worthy cause, combined with an expert group of collaborators, added up to a thoroughly rewarding outcome for everyone involved.”

This global User Experience Award follows My Big Tomorrow also winning one of nine 2015 Australian Web Awards last month as well.
