J.A. Martin – HunterNet member in focus

Our HunterNet member in focus this month is J.A. Martin Electrical, another successful local company operating and providing quality service for over 50 years.

Apart from doing great work in the electrical services sector, J.A. Martin is continually giving back to the community. J.A.Martin annually supports many charities in the community, including Harry Meyn Foundation, Camp Quality, Hunter Babies, Beyond Blue, Lara Jean Association and Movember.

This community attitude is reflective of the good work many small and medium-sized enterprises in our region do through dedication to customer service and providing solutions from inception to installation. J.A. Martin recognises the value of community and understands that the employees in the business live, breathe and play in the geographic areas they work in. This is all part of engaging and developing long standing client relationships.

Based out of Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Gunnedah, J.A. Martin has grown to 120 personnel with 80 vehicles on the road providing electrical solutions to all areas of Australia. Core competencies include electrical engineering, switchboard manufacture, CCTV, data cabling, service and maintenance, and electrical projects for mining, infrastructure and industrial applications.

They have stayed on top of the success that the resources boom provided. They have also been nimble enough to realise that diversifying within their core activity will provide sustainable opportunities. With the mindset of continually developing their range of offerings, J.A. Martin has widened its capabilities by moving into the small to medium scale solar market.

They have just completed the 4MW Chillamurra Solar Farm for YD Projects on the New South Wales (NSW)/Queensland (QLD) border and have been successful in securing further works with YD Projects on the Dunblane 10MW Solar Farm near Longreach, QLD. Furthermore, they are currently working with Narrabri Council on a small 50kW solar project for remote bore pumps.

Another example of a quality company that understands its core activities and the markets they work in, J.A.Martin is making its mark in the renewables field. With the announcement of large-scale solar farms in South Australia, the sky could literally be the limit of the opportunities in this market sector.
