Investment in west end business hub pays dividends

Investment in west end business hub pays dividends

In 2014, PKF Newcastle transformed 755 Hunter Street, the former surf shop of Mark Richards, into a state-of-the-art business precinct.

Now, in 2017, 755 Hunter Street has truly become a beacon of collaboration in the west end, filled with over 150 business professionals. The latest addition – Booksmart Accounting Solutions – joins PKF Newcastle, CVG Finance, HunterNet and Austrade all under one roof to create a bigger, brighter and busier hub, which embodies the vision of the Revitalising Newcastle plan.

The business network, based in the heart of the city, allows each business to collaborate and grow whilst contributing to the changing landscape of Newcastle. With the sound of construction work all around them, the business owners at 755 Hunter Street know that it won’t be long before the whole area is buzzing with activity.

The significant growth began in 2015 when Martin Matthews and his Audit and Assurance team from Forsythes amalgamated with PKF.

In late 2016, PKF welcomed CVG Finance, HunterNet and Austrade. CVG Finance Managing Director, Paul Lambess, who said the move has been a positive one for the organisation.

“Having respected the integrity and work ethic of the PKF team for a considerable amount of time, I was excited at the opportunity to share the business space of 755 Hunter Street,” Paul said.

“It did mean uprooting from our well established office on the Honeysuckle boardwalk, however I knew this was going to be a positive business move.

“Our new space is great, and with the expansive projects being built around us, we’re soon to be at the centre of the business district. As a collective, the businesses that occupy the building here share an equal interest in the city of Newcastle and its growth coupled with the desire to provide great quality services for our clients.

“This is something very special to be a part of.”

HunterNet CEO, Tony Cade said the move was a strong strategic step for the organisation.

“This is a long term solution for us and our members. Strategically, it makes sense to be in the west end of the CBD, which is continuing to progress and transform with plenty of development activity,” Tony said.

“The meeting and function facilities at 755 Hunter Street are exceptional and will provide many opportunities for further collaboration and networking between our members.
“PKF has been a great supporter of HunterNet for many years, and we are proud to be able to share such strong relationships with our members.”

Newcastle continues to innovate and challenge the status quo, and the collaboration within the hub is designed to pave the way for the future of the region.
