HunterNet to host Defence conference

HunterNet to host Defence conference

The HunterNet Defence Conference has been specifically structured to educate organisations aiming to work on what Defence require. HunterNet Chief Executive Officer, Tony Cade, says it will also provide insight into how to interact with Defence in meeting their requirements and outline Government initiatives that support Industry in this area and how they are accessed.

“The Federal Government has recently outlined their plan for strategy, capability and resources for the Australian Defence Force through till 2035,” Tony said. “The plan will require an unprecedented investment in Defence and presents significant opportunities for all industry types that can either directly or indirectly support Defence. There has also been significant change in how Industry will interact with and be supported by Government and Defence.”

The conference, which will run 19-20 September 2016, will also focus on the development of regional innovation and collaborative commercial opportunities relevant to land, sea and air Defence.

“This year the conference facilities will be configured so that there will be made provision for attendees to engage dedicated break-out areas for which the aim will be to drive collaboration and engagement between Defence Primes and the regions SMEs in order to further develop their understanding of their respective roles and requirements in delivering optimal Defence outcomes,” Tony continued.

The conference will also provide opportunities for networking, an enabler for industry to forge relationships and develop an understanding of collaborative capabilities. A specific highlight for the conference networking opportunities will be the gala dinner held on the first evening.

Special guest speakers for the event will include the RAAFs Commander Air Combat Group and VC awardee Mark Donaldson.

“In New South Wales we are currently seeing a period of unprecedented opportunities for defence support companies. In particular, SMEs have been recognised as potential high value contributors to the ADF. This year’s annual Defence conference will provide unique engagement opportunities with domestic and global supply chain key decision makers. It is highly recommended our local industry get on board and invest in their future of opportunities,” Tony concluded.

Again this year the conference will be supporting two very important Defence related charities, Legacy and Soldier On.
