Hunter companies achieve certification to ISO

The QMS Certification Services team say it is always a proud moment when their clients are able to achieve their certification to the ISO standards.

The ISO standards are an international level of standard that ensures organisations products and services are safe, reliable and of good quality. QMS are an independent third-party certifier who assess organisations’ against those standards.

QMS client, Hunter Coatings, are a Hunter-based organisation who provide infrastructure maintenance services – painting and abrasive blasting services to the mining, industrial and commercial sectors.

They recently achieved their triple certification for ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001 Environmental Management and AS/NZS 4801 Occupational Health and Safety Management.

QMS Certification Services CEO, Adam McDean, said Hunter Coatings are a prime example of a locally based company that is achieving significant success.

“It has been a fantastic opportunity to work with a local company that is leveraging the benefits of ISO certification to increase client satisfaction,” Adam said.

Hunter Coatings Managing Director, Jason Stephen, said the certification process was a fair commitment but made them push harder with their system improvements and they have now ended up with some real value.

“When we first got involved with QMS to get our certification for OHS, quality and environmental our new management system was already beginning to give us some benefit in our administration areas and painting services,” Jason said.

“Our work processes are now more standardised with less errors. Our big clients are very happy with our safety and environmental systems, which have become pretty much a way of life since ISO certification.”

Another client of QMS Certification Services, Rutherford-based Persas, who provide pneumatic equipment sales and service requirements, have been certified to ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

“Through their certification Persas are able to demonstrate their commitment to quality management principles, which included a strong focus on customer service, the implementation of an effective management structure and their approach to continual improvement,” Adam said.

“These are just two examples of Hunter-based companies that have invested the time and effort to gain certification ‚Äì which in turn provides them with access to a wider pool of potential clients.”

Earlier this year ISO released updated standards for ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems. They review their standards approximately every five years and have stated that these versions follows a new, higher level structure to make them easier to use in conjunction with other management system standards.
