Local success story, MJH Group jumped in the national rankings for the second successive year, making it the biggest mover according to the HIA-COLORBOND® steel Housing 100 Report released last week.

MJH Group increased its home building starts by 517 homes, or 24 per cent, over 2015/16 – almost double the number of any other home builder in the top 20 rankings nationally. This year’s result in addition to the 1,034 increase during the previous year, escalates MJH Group to 3rd on the list of the Australia’s largest detached house builders.

MJH Group trades predominantly in NSW as McDonald Jones Homes and Mojo Homes and also retained its established mantle as the number 1 detached house builder in NSW with a total of 2,183starts in NSW during 2016/17, and a total of 2,716 nationally.

MJH Group Managing Director, Andrew Helmers said the Hunter-based business was proud to be recognised in the national rankings.

The HIA-COLORBOND® steel Housing 100 Report ranks Australia’s largest 100 residential builders based on the number of homes commenced each year.

Hunter HIA Executive Director, Craig Jennion said “more broadly the Housing 100 Report details part of the positive journey that the New South Wales new home building sector has been on in recent years. New dwelling starts rose by an estimated 5 per cent to 73,716 in 2016/17.”
