The Hunter-based Greater Building Society is one of the big winners in this year’s national Mozo People’s Choice Banking Awards. The Greater has taken out the Best Building Society Award and been named one of Australia’s Top 5 providers of both bank accounts and savings accounts. These three awards follow on from The Greater winning Best Used Car Loan in the Mozo Experts Choice Personal Loans Awards last week.
The Greater’s head of marketing and distribution Matt Hingston said according to Mozo, The Greater’s overall average score was a healthy 8.72 out of ten, above the average of mutuals (8.38) and banks (7.81). The Greater scored particularly highly for ‘service’ and ‘trust’ with 82 per cent of people who reviewed The Greater considering themselves ‘fans’ of the building society.
The Awards are in their sixth year and The Greater has taken out the Best Building Society Award three times, which is more than any other building society.
Matt said The Greater’s straightforward approach to banking was a winner with Hunter customers. He thanked The Greater’s customers for taking the time to provide feedback via Mozo, which helped The Greater to continually improve its products and service.
“We have been investing heavily in making our products even better and the banking experience simpler,” Matt said. “Our new LifeSaver (youth banking) Account is a great example and no doubt a contributor to the award win.”
He said The Greater had always enjoyed outstanding customer satisfaction ratings because of its expert, friendly staff but it has also invested in digital banking to ensure all customers have access to their money in the way that suits them best.
Mozo Director, Kirsty Lamont said it is no small feat for The Greater to achieve their third win as Best Building Society, given the scores they see in this category are among the highest of any provider type.
Mozo (short for Money Zone) is an online finance comparison and reviews service, launched in October 2008. The Mozo People’s Choice Banking Awards are determined from the ratings of 35,000 Australians over the past 12 months, making them most comprehensive consumer report card on the Australian financial services industry.
This year more than 170 providers were rated. Customers are asked to rate their banking provider on overall satisfaction, price, features, customer service, convenience and trust, across one or more product categories. The Greater Building Society provides a complete range of banking services to around 250,000 customers across NSW and south-east Queensland. It is also the winner of the Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Award for Best Building Society for the past two years.
