Forsythes Training offers emotional intelligence leadership training in lockdown

People experiencing reduced working hours, due to COVID lockdowns, can access training in emotional intelligence from Hunter-based registered training organisation, Forsythes Training, at no cost to them this month.

Thanks to funding support from the NSW Government, Forsythes is offering a one-day online course on 22 September.

Forsythes Training Director, Julie Carroll said the training gives people the chance to enhance their skills while in lockdown.

She said that research shows emotional intelligence is key for successful leaders and managers. Julie continued, noting that emotional intelligence is lacking in many Australian workplaces.

“The course is ideal for those working in the hospitality, hairdressing, and retail sectors but is open to all sectors,” Julie said.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to be self-aware and to self-regulate.

Julie said emotionally intelligent people know their strengths and challenges and how to achieve outcomes.

“IQ is a measure of intelligence but Emotional Quotient (EQ) measures how well you interact with people,” she said.

“The more EQ a person has, the better they recognise emotions in themselves and others.

“This helps them manage these emotional states to help motivate people and have better relationships.”

The course is a unit of competency from the nationally accredited, Diploma in Leadership and Management.

One of Forsythes Training’s expert leadership and management trainers will deliver the course via its virtual classroom.

“When we say online training, we mean using ZOOM with a trainer to give all the benefits of classroom training in a flexible and COVID-19 safe way,” she said.

“This training is not just a series of online videos or boring PowerPoint presentations and quizzes.

“You get to interact with the trainer and other participants, to ask questions and learn from one another.

“Do the course from your home – all you need is your laptop and a good Wi-Fi connection.”

The course runs from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Funding to provide the training has come from NSW Training Services funded Locked Down Skill Up program. To be eligible you need to be experiencing reduced working hours due to COVID-19 lockdowns. You can book your spot here.
