Dispersed law firm, Nexus Law Group, win another major national award

Newcastle-based Nexus Law Group has come out ahead of other NewLaw and traditional national law firms to be awarded the prestigious Boutique Firm of the Year award at the recent Australasian Law Awards.

The category recognises outstanding performance by a specialist firm and was open to all boutique firms based in Australia.

On accepting the award, Nexus Law Group Head of Commercial, Alan Prasad, said it was great recognition of the positive structural innovation the firm represents, particularly considering the impressive list of finalists.

“Nexus Law Group is not just innovative in our approach, we also work hard to ensure this benefits our lawyers and their clients,” Alan said.

“This award recognises we are on the right track when it comes to the quality of work we are delivering and the manner in which we deliver it to clients,” Alan continued.

“Clients are a core focus of our approach and the reason why we are reshaping the very structure of the modern law firm.”

The Australasian Law Awards have a detailed process of judging, including independent research of nominees and an independent panel of judges who assess and score each nomination according to specific criteria.

Founder of Nexus, Marcus McCarthy, said that the award is validation that the firms’ new business structure represents real and positive reform of the law firm model itself and that Nexus is now a significant presence in the legal sector.

“We are working hard to change the legal landscape and impart a positive transformation in which clients get direct access to highly experienced, specialist practitioners in a highly flexible and cost effective client delivery system,” Marcus said.

“It is great to see the business grow so fast and take hold, with some of the best lawyers in the industry enjoying the real benefit of the underlying structure.

“Nexus is one of the few NewLaw businesses offering positive industry disruption, while preserving the position of lawyers in society instead of undermining it from within.”

The winners, across 34 categories, were announced at a sold out event at The Star, Sydney on Thursday, 18 May 2017. Journalist and author Peter Fitzsimons featured as the MC and guests were entertained with a surprise performance by singing waiters act The Three Waiters.
