Community Aged Care/NDIS merger provides strength in changing sector

A fourth not-for-profit home and community care provider has joined the ADSSI Limited group.

Dungog and District Neighbourcare (DDN) is the latest organisation to merge in the changing community aged care and disability sectors.

Neighbourcare has been supporting older people and people living with disability in their community since 1994 through services such as Meals on Wheels, Transport, Home Care Packages, NDIS support and more.

The merge of DDN with ADSSI Limited, trading as Maitland Community Care Services (MCCS), Beresfield & District Community Care (BCC) and Central Coast/Northern Sydney based Adssi In-home Support, came into effect January 1, 2021.

Chief Executive Officer at ADSSI Limited, Jenni Allan said the merger seemed a natural fit and will help their sector provide an improved service.

“Our shared values were the catalyst to create this opportunity. By combining our expertise and resources, we can learn from each other. We will be stronger and better able to remain competitive in the deregulated marketplace,” she said.

“Importantly, we will be able to offer all our clients more services and greater choice as we expand.”

In total the four community care organisations have over 100 years’ experience in delivering aged and disability community care services and programs.

The combined entity, ADSSI Limited is a $26 million not-for-profit business, employing hundreds of local staff across the four sites, and supporting around 16,500 people to remain living independently in their home and community. In addition, almost 300 volunteers support staff and clients.

For clients it will be business as usual, with Neighbourcare retaining their name and identity, and continuing to support the local community with the same local staff and volunteers.

The community will continue to have access to practical support including domestic assistance, linen, transport, social support, personal care, respite, Meals on Wheels, Home Care Packages, and NDIS support.
