AGL Liddell and Bayswater take on charity challenge

Employees at AGL’s Liddell and Bayswater power stations are raising the bar by increasing their annual charity donations efforts, holding monthly events in a challenge to raise $20,000 this financial year.

AGL Chief Operating Officer, Markus Brokhof said the charity challenge had already exceeded expectations, with the passionate teams on track to meet their goal well ahead of schedule.

“We are proud to see our employees driving this initiative, having already made considerable progress toward achieving their goal by raising $11,500 in just the first two months,” Markus said.

“We know the challenges Australians have faced over the past eighteen months have been immense, with devastating bushfires, an economic downturn, and a global pandemic testing our communities.

“As always, when times are tough our employees come together to support our community and I couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.

“A number of charities hold personal significance to our team members and each month a different organisation will be selected by our employees for their fundraising efforts.”

To support their work and generosity throughout the year, AGL is matching donations through their ‘Power To Give’ platform where employees can receive up to $1,000 per fundraising event.

“This initiative has united our people on site, with different areas of our workforce responsible for organising and hosting the monthly events to bring us all together,” Markus continued.

AGL Liddell and Bayswater General Manager, Len McLachlan said employees on site have a long history of supporting their community.

“It’s great to see the spirit of giving amongst our people, as they contribute their time, money and enthusiasm to the community,” Len said.

“I want to thank everyone at Liddell and Bayswater for their efforts and generosity during what is a challenging time for many people.”

AGL Liddell and Bayswater power stations are encouraging and supporting employees to each participate in one day of volunteering work this year, with AGL providing paid leave to undertake work with a not-for-profit organisation of the employee’s choice.
