Workshop to get you deciding rather than sliding in 2021

Workshop to get you deciding rather than sliding in 2021

Two of the region’s well-known entrepreneurs are joining forces to host a one-day workshop to help people to set intentions and goals for the year in an enjoyable and stress-free way.

Founder of NFP Connect, Grace McLean and Founder of The Mindfulness Clinic, Charlotte Thaarup will run the workshop on January 28 online, and in person at the Retreat Space in Newcastle.

Charlotte said the workshop is designed to show people how to plan in a powerful way, by embracing their creative side as well as their strategic side.

“Painting, drawing and play are just some of the tools we will use to get people to relax and think more creatively about the year ahead,” Charlotte said.

“We will bow to 2020 and take reflections, lessons, and blessings to shape and integrate personal and professional intentions, goals and plans for 2021.”

Charlotte said during some tidying up during COVID lockdown she found a decade old, bold, intention notes that she remembers being “scary to write”.

“What was dazzling was that every intention had come true,” Charlotte said.

“Intention can be powerful because it precedes all our behaviour.

“Are we deciding or sliding?  Are we getting lost in daily life, habits, frustrations, and the grind of business to or can we lift ourselves above that?”

Grace said personal and business leadership starts with understanding how to self-manage.

“If you’re stuck on the mouse wheel and overwhelmed, no amount of strategy or vision is going to help you,” Grace said.

“If you can reflect on your why you do what you do and how to change, you have a much greater chance of leading yourself and your organisation to be more sustainable.”

Grace is the creator of the NFP Connect Planner, a tool that guides people through daily, weekly, and monthly reminders for goal setting, planning, and self-care. Grace says this helps to change habits over time to better balance work and leisure.

Charlotte is one of the most experienced mindfulness leaders in Australia and teaches Mindful Leadership as part of Newcastle University Executive MBA. Her leadership coaching and Mindfulness@Work training program shows leaders how to bring mindfulness in the workplace to help reduce stress, increase productivity and creativity, and to build a more harmonious work environment.

People can join the workshop online or in person. In person spaces are limited to ensure a COVID safe learning environment.
