Hunter Business Awards finalists announced for 2019

Hunter Business Awards finalists announced for 2019

More than one hundred organisations and individuals will vie for honours in the 2019 Hunter Business Awards, the region’s most prestigious awards program.

A record number of finalists have been named across seventeen categories following an unprecedented response from the business community to this year’s call for entries.

Hunter Business Chamber CEO, Bob Hawes, said the calibre of entrants across all categories was high, demonstrating the strength and diversity of the Hunter business sector.

“We’ve seen particularly strong interest in the categories of Business Leader of the Year, Excellence in Business, Excellence in Small Business, Contribution to the Region and Outstanding Employer of Choice, with business leaders clearly recognising the value that peer recognition at this level can bring to their organisation,” Bob said.

“The list of finalists features high-quality entrants from across the private, government and not-for-profit sectors in a diverse range of business and industry areas, including retail, hospitality, healthcare, tourism, manufacturing, mining, professional services and many more,” he said.

The Hunter Business Awards are an opportunity for local businesses to be celebrated for their ongoing internal successes as well as their contributions to the wider community.

Bob Hawes was delighted to see the high-quality list of submissions for this years’ awards, with a particular interest in our local business leaders who submitted.

“We are also very pleased to see many excellent contenders in the Kristen Keegan Young Business Executive and Start-up Superstar categories, which put the spotlight on our business leaders of the future,” he said.

The awards will be presented at a gala black-tie dinner at NEX, in Newcastle, on Friday 23 August.

Winners in aligned categories will progress to the NSW Business Chamber State Business Awards on Friday 22 November at the International Convention Centre, in Sydney.

The full list of finalists for this years’ Hunter Business Awards is available on the Hunter Business Chamber website.

Business Hunter

Business Hunter is the new name for the organisation formerly known as the Hunter Business Chamber. We are the largest regional peak business group in Australia, representing members across all business and industry sectors. Business Hunter is a not-for-profit member organisation dedicated to connecting people in business with what they need to succeed.

We have been the voice of business in the Hunter since 1886. Our members are part of a network of more than 2,500 businesses across the region. That network includes members of 20 aligned local chambers across 10 local government areas, stretching from the Mid North Coast to Lake Macquarie and inland to Scone. From main-street retailers to ASX 100 corporates, our member businesses power Australia's strongest regional economy.

The name Business Hunter was adopted in February 2020 to better reflect the vibrant and diverse businesses the organisation represents. The new name also aligns with our affiliates Business NSW and Business Australia.

Business Hunter has been through a number of name changes; what has never changed is our commitment to helping our members do business better, to drive growth and prosperity in the Hunter region.
