Local law firm, Roberts Legal, announced last week that it had transformed its business by launching two separate niche legal practices: Delaney Roberts, Specialist Family Lawyers and Roberts Legal, Business & Litigation Specialists.
The team of five Family Lawyers, practising exclusively in the area of Family Law, celebrated their independence last Friday, with the launch of Delaney Roberts Family Lawyers.
Roberts Legal Director, Anna Roberts, Director, said that Family Law can be quite a complex area, which is why being able to provide a range of expertise places them in a good position to provide only the best for their clients.
“Family Law is a broad and often complex area. The outcomes in terms of access to property and parenting arrangements can be life changing. Many people need access to quality, specialist legal services in Family Law,” she said.
“Delaney Roberts is pleased to be positioned as the largest, specialist Family Law firm serving the Newcastle and Hunter Valley regions.
“The board of Directors made a strategic decision to grow the Family Law team over the last three years as our clients were seeking a Specialist Lawyer for their often complex and sensitive issues. We are proud to have developed a niche legal practice, Delaney Roberts, to meet that demand.”
The Commercial Lawyers also celebrated the relaunch of Roberts Legal as a specialist business legal problem-solving law firm.
Managing Director, Sam Roberts, who is one of only three Law Society Accredited Specialists in Commercial Litigation, said this opportunity provides their team with the chance to focus on their niche practice areas.
“This is essentially a refocus of our core practice areas. Business and company law, commercial litigation and building and construction law are the areas upon which Roberts Legal’s reputation was initially established in Newcastle,” he said.
Moving forward to today, Roberts Legal also assists business’ with Corporate Insolvency, Employment and Work Health & Safety.
In September 2019, Roberts Legal announced the appointment of Jeremy Kennedy, a nationally recognised expert in industrial relations and Work Health and Safety Law.
“We’re the closest law firm to Newcastle Court House, although half of our clients come from Sydney and most of our cases run out of the District and Supreme Courts in Sydney,” Sam said.
Describing himself as an entrepreneur trapped in a lawyer’s body, Sam explained that the Directors decided in mid-2019 that they wanted to continue to innovate the business and be a disruptor in the legal industry.
“We had some help along the way, but this is something that Anna [Roberts] has been talking about for a little while now” he said.
Roberts Legal’s Head of Business & Company Law and Director, Amanda Crosbie, said the opportunity has been a great experience for all involved.
“It’s been an exciting build up for everyone involved. It’s something we’ve been planning since 2019”.
Delaney Roberts Family Lawyers will operate from the company’s Adamstown office and Roberts Legal from its Newcastle office in the Telstra Building.
The renamed Roberts Legal Services Group Pty Limited will celebrate 13 years in practice this year.
Established in 2007 by husband and wife, Sam and Anna Roberts, the practice started from a small office on Brunker Road. It now operates 2 niche legal practices, Roberts Legal, from Newcastle, and Delaney Roberts Family Lawyers, Adamstown. Roberts Legal Services Group employs more than 15 Lawyers, with immediate plans for growth.
