Newcastle-based law firm, Catherine Henry Lawyers, has appointed Stephen Phillips to the new position of CEO.

The firm’s Founding Principal, Catherine Henry, said the appointment will help drive the firm’s continued expansion in the Hunter and regional NSW.

The appointment will allow her to focus more on representing clients in health and medical law and elder law cases.

Catherine said Stephen has more than a decade of experience at both senior executive and board room level across the private, government and not for profit sectors.

Stephen said he was looking forward to working for a firm with such a high reputation for quality work and care for its clients.

The firm’s other recruit is Senior Health Lawyer, Linda Crawford.

“Linda brings extensive experience as a lawyer and as a nurse and a midwife of almost two decades to the firm’s expanding health and elder law teams,” Catherine said.

Meanwhile, the firm has opened a Taree office to allow it to meet growing demand to help clients with medical negligence and other health law matters on the mid North Coast.

Stephen has most recently worked for the Newcastle Anglican Church Corporation, NSW Government and Hunter Water Corporation.

He has both a Masters of Commercial Law and Master of Business Administration as well as post graduate qualifications in corporate governance and management.

“Stephen’s qualifications and experience are a perfect fit for the new role,” Catherine said.

Stephen is also a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), the Governance Institute of Australia and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

He is also a member of the Commercial Law Association of Australia and the Law Council of Australia’s International Law Section and has served as a member of the AICD’s Hunter Region Committee.
