Highly experienced Hunter-based practice manager, Rosanna Fuller, has established her own business to get to the core of solving professional services firms’ business administration, planning and development problems.
Core Business Consultants provides strategy, systems and operational support to professional services firms including law firms, accountants, financial advisory firms, architects as well as medical and health practices.
Rosanna said the professional services sector faces an ever-changing landscape in terms of client expectations and serviceability.
She said firms need to deliver practical and cost-effective outcomes, but directors and senior staff often lack the time or expertise to properly manage the multi-faceted components of running their business.
Those key components include human resources; operations; marketing and business development; facilities management; IT management; business administration.
“Just because you are a good accountant or lawyer, doesn’t make you a good businessperson,” Rosanna said.
“Because you are a good lawyer or accountant you want to practice your profession, not administration,” she said.
Rosanna said many professional services firms were small to medium businesses.
“One issue smaller firm face as they grow is that with more staff and clients comes a need for efficient, time saving systems and processes as well as policies to protect the business,” she said.
“If you can’t implement these systems quickly and effectively then the bottom line and client satisfaction suffers.”
For larger firms, Rosanna and her team provide coaching and support to a practice manager as well as provide cover for staff taking leave or additional hands during peak business periods.
Rosanna said there will be more professional services firms operating in the Hunter over the coming years as the economy continues to diversify.
According to the Hunter Regional Plan, the professional services sector is growing in the region mirroring national trends.
ABS data released in 2018 shows the Australian professional services industry grew by 30 per cent since the beginning of 2010 to become the fourth largest industry group in the country.
Figures by IBIS World show annual growth of around 1.6 per cent over the past five years.
She brings more than 20 years’ experience working in practice management across many parts of the sector in Sydney and Newcastle. In Newcastle she has most recently worked for a law firm and a financial advisory firm and has worked for firms of varying sizes and stages of development.
“Whatever the stage your business or team is at, Core Business Consultants can help deliver the practical and proven results you require,” she said.
