Multi award winning clinic, Hunter Plastic Surgery is this year celebrating 10 years of providing specialist plastic surgery services to women in Newcastle and beyond.
Founded in March 2009 by Dr Nicholas Moncrieff and his wife Amber, Hunter Plastic Surgery has since seen over 18,000 patients and Nicholas has personally performed over 20,000 surgical procedures in that time.
Nicholas said demand for their services has continued to grow.
“My practice has always seen many female patients, but I decided in early 2017 to focus exclusively on breast reductions, augmentations, tummy tucks and lifts,” Nicholas said.
“This was a bold move as there are only a handful of plastic surgeons in the nation who are so specialised. But we have never had so much demand for my time, so it proves that we are doing what women want.”
To mark the anniversary, the Hunter Plastic Surgery team hosted a cocktail function at which they gave away a plastic surgery procedure for free.
“In 2012 Lisa Naylor came to us after significant weight loss, and I performed a tummy tuck and thigh lift to remove the excess skin and tissue,” Nicholas said.
“Lisa’s story has stayed with me over the years, so when we decided we wanted to gift a surgery to someone, she was top of mind.
“Lisa will have no out-of-pocket costs for her breast reduction, reshaping and lift, letting her finally find the complete self-confidence she has been looking for. This saves her over $10,000 on the usual surgery and hospital costs.”
Nicholas has a strong record in giving back to the community. He first started work in the region offering public skin cancer surgery back in 2008 and after moving here in 2009, he established the first public breast reconstruction unit the Hunter region had seen in over a decade.
Nicholas was the sole Plastic Surgeon offering public plastic surgery from 2009-2013 and he remained the only Plastic Surgeon offering public breast reconstruction until 2017. He was instrumental to the recruitment of three other Plastic Surgeons into the public system before leaving the system at the end of his contract two years ago.
Over their ten years, Hunter Plastic Surgery have also won multiple awards, which Amber puts down to their five star approach.
“We work together as a team to ensure not just great clinical outcomes, but the whole experience is five star, something that isn’t always the norm in medical settings. As a result, we have won eight awards over the past six years, and now have a national reputation amongst prospective patients,” Amber said.
“In the past 12 months, almost a third of our patients have come from more than 50 kilometres away from Newcastle – including as far away as North Queensland and Perth! We must be doing something special for women to travel that far.
“We even started using the social media hashtag of #MoncrieffMagic after a patient started posting her after photos using that term. We like to think we are providing magical transformations.”
Hunter Plastic Surgery also supports a number of community initiatives. In the past 12 months, they have donated over $15,000 to support local, national and international causes.
These include Interplast (to provide plastic and reconstructive surgery in the Asia Pacific), Pink Ribbon Day and this year the Hunter Plastic Surgery team participated in FebFast for the second year in a row, raising a total of over $4,000 for disadvantaged youth.
The team also supports a number of local events including as sponsors of Tubes 4 Boobs, Got Your Back Sista and Surfest. Hunter Plastic Surgery is also a supporter of Jodie’s Place Refuge in Branxton, providing hands-on assistance including funding a new website and raising funds to renovate the refuge over the past two years.
