Gecko Security support Mai-Wel Ball

Rutherford-based firm Gecko Security has taken the lead in supporting The Mai-Wel Group, by becoming the naming rights sponsor for the annual ball.

Back for its fifth year, the Mai-Wel Gala Ball has become a much-anticipated event on Maitland’s social calendar, having attracted more than 250 guests in the past from across the Hunter to raise funds for people with a disability.

The secret theme for this year also promises to see Maitland Town Hall lit up in a dazzling array of vintage lights, revealing the true grandeur of its majestic ballroom.

Matthew Pritchard, owner of Gecko Security, said that having spent his career working in regional markets, he appreciates the value of personal connections and relationships, which is why his firm wanted to support Mai-Wel.

“I look at my business as one side of a relationship with the local community and for any relationship to be successful both parties need to be willing to give,” Matthew said.

“My business has been successful because of the willingness of the community to support us and to continue to shop local for their services, instead of choosing national or international operators. Because of this support, my business is now in a position to be able to return the favour to the community that supports us. We feel that the best way to do this is by supporting a local essential service such as The Mai-Wel Group.”

Pennie Kearney, CEO of The Mai-Wel Group, said she is excited about the upcoming event and grateful for the support of Gecko Security.

“I am looking forward to this grand soir√©e and the surprises that will be revealed on the night,” Pennie said.

“Each year this event’s profile gets bigger and better as does the number of attendees, the amount of money raised and the excitement and enthusiasm in the lead up to the big night.”

Pennie said she is also hopeful local businesses will continue to dig deep and donate prizes for the Gala Ball raised and the excitement and enthusiasm in the lead up to the big night.

“My advice to other business leaders would be to consider sponsorship of charity events in their community,” Matthew continued.

“The marketing dollars are there to be spent anyway and local not-for-profit organisations are always extremely appreciative of the support. The value of this appreciation continues well after the event is over and for us has provided a healthy return on investment for our spend.”
