Experienced marketer joins local disability service

After spending almost two decades working in Sydney, Jacinta Fintan has returned to her home town of Newcastle and taken up a role with growing disability support services organisation, Butter Fish Services.

After studying at the University of Newcastle, Jacinta worked in various marketing and public relations roles before creating the internationally acclaimed Stencil Art Prize, which she began 10 years ago in Newtown.

The prize is now regarded as the largest stencil event in the world and tours biennially around Australia.

In 2017 Jacinta launched The Wall Station, a business focussed on mural and public art installations for schools, councils, commercial enterprises and private landowners. The Wall Station has a large stable of Australian and international artists, with a focus on street artists and graffiti artists, as well as a range of contemporary visual and sculptural artists.

At Butter Fish Services, Jacinta will work closely with the Founding Director, Don MacAskill to develop effective communication and advocacy campaigns for people in the region living with disabilities.

Don said Butter Fish Services works with more than 100 people in the region living with disabilities.

“Our role is to not only connect these people to services that allow them to reach their individual goals, but to find ways for them to effectively communicate with us and the wider NDIS sector,” Don said.

“Jacinta will be a great asset to our growing team.”

Jacinta said she moved to Newcastle with her family to access a “better” lifestyle and the good schools.

“While we loved the opportunities that we had in Sydney, now was a great time to move before our son started school,” Jacinta said.

“Butter Fish Services provides outstanding support to this community and I am very much looking forward to working with the team.”
