Creative returns to the Hunter with masterclasses

Creative returns to the Hunter with masterclasses

After graduating from the University of Newcastle and developing a successful career in design, Amanda O’Bryan has returned to the region as a multi award-winning designer, creative brand strategist and small business owner of Creative Queen Bees.

In line with her move, Amanda is launching a new series of masterclass workshops for local business owners, including her Brand Love workshop on 20 October and Creative Love on 24 November.

In the Brand Love masterclass, Amanda will share why the secret to great branding is about aligning passion with purpose, vision with values and creativity with strategy to create a brand that business owners and their customers love.

Amanda said the masterclasses are designed to provide marketing insight for local businesses.

“Understanding what the big creative idea of your brand is, and how to align it with your marketing, is a game changer for small business,” Amanda said.

“The Brand Love masterclass brings that altogether and provides clarity and direction in a very hands-on, creative, but practical way.”

Creative Love is about helping business owners to make 2019 their most creative year ever. Amanda said one of the most common things she is asked is “I know that I am meant to be doing something, I just don’t know what it is”.

“The Creative Love workshop will give you creative clarity, build creative confidence, discover your creative calling and explore your creative swagger,” Amanda said.

“I really want to offer workshops that are fun, inspirational and provide breakthrough actions that small business and creative people can use immediately.”

The workshops will be held in an unconventional space, amongst flowers in the Creative Hub at Newcastle Flower Markets.

Amanda’s knowledge and experience in creative, brand and small business, include cutting-edge techniques in creative problem solving gained through her training at the Creative Problem Solving Institute at Buffalo University in New York. Her expertise helps other business owners, brand builders and creative start-ups to think about their business and life in an entirely different and creative way.

Creative Queen Bees was founded in 2012, offering creative services specialising in brand strategy, brand, graphic and digital design to greater Sydney businesses.

In 2017, with the business thriving, Amanda was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer. It was during her recovery she would write in her journal.

“I’d just write stuff, ideas, sketches of my day, and after a while, new ideas surfaced and the masterclass series began to take shape,” Amanda said.

Many journals later, much has changed. With it came renewed vision to design a life she loved. Amanda convinced her family to move back to the Hunter Valley and life and the business of Creative Queen Bees looks very different.

Amanda is now joined with two of her sisters, Belle and Cate. Together they are growing a brand, blog, courses, a creative studio and a soon to be launched online store dedicated to creating a happy, healthy, creative life and business.

Brand Love and Creative Love workshop tickets are $98 for each three hour masterclass, with workbook, cheat sheets and designer tips included.
