Change management capability and training organisation, Prosci, is giving Hunter people working in the not-for-profit sector the opportunity to undertake free training through its Heart Place scholarships.
Hunter-based Prosci Change Management Consultant, Lenore Miller, said the scholarships are designed to foster the development of change management capabilities in not-for-profit organisations and registered charities to support their mission to achieve positive social change.
Lenore said five scholarships are available this year. The scholarships allow the recipient to attend Prosci’s three-day Change Management Certification Program.
She said over the past nine years, Prosci has awarded more than forty scholarships and organisations in the Hunter region have gained a number of the scholarships.
“Like other sectors of the economy, not for profits need to continually change to ensure they stay relevant and sustainable,” Lenore said.
“Change management is the important people side of any organisational change.
“The scholarships are one way that Prosci gives back to help ensure charities continue their important work in the community.”
Samaritans gained a Heart Place Scholarship In both 2018 and 2019. Disability charity, Connectability, gained a scholarship in 2019.
One recipient, Samaritans’ Communications Manager, Elizabeth Baker, said the scholarship gave her an opportunity she will value for the rest of her career.
“Being able to bring my background in communications together with the change management methodology in a setting where I could share with others was a wonderful learning opportunity,” Elizabeth said.
“I’ve since put my learnings into practice in my workplace and it’s been some of the most rewarding work of my career.
“I would encourage those who can benefit from applying change management in a not for profit to apply for this scholarship.”
Applications for the 2020 Heart Place Scholarships are now open and close on Friday 25 October.
Scholarship winners will be announced by the end of November.
